Dr J H Kigbu Appreciates Supporters, Appeals For Calm
Honourable Dr. Joseph Haruna Kigbu has called on his supporters to remain calm and be law abiding even in the face of the recent judgment by the Court of Appeal in Makurdi.
He made this appeal while playing host to his supporters at his residence in Bukan Sidi, Lafia on Tuesday (November 12, 2019).
Recall that recently, the Court of Appeal sitting in Makurdi upturned the ruling of the election petition tribunal and declared Hon. Sarki Dahiru of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of the February 22 elections for the seat of Lafia/Obi Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives. Hon. Dr. Kigbu was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in that election and he challenged the outcome at the elections petition tribunal.
Addressing his supporters, Dr. Kigbu said: “There is nothing that will happen in this world without the knowledge of God Almighty. And if God Almighty says it is not my time He knows why. Personally, I know there is a reason why God has allowed us to be in this situation now.
“I want to thank all of you for how you have supported me every time. Anytime you heard that Likitan Talakawa was coming, you all came out with all your might. Because of that, we will not stop. God is just allowing us to gather energy.”
He then promised that the commissioning of the Asibitin Talakawa will be done within the next four months where according to him, his supporters and opposers alike will all benefit from quality and affordable healthcare.
Dr. Kigbu then called on the government of Nasarawa State to look at the plight of the people of Nasarawa State and serve then diligently.
He said: “I admonish the government of Nasarawa State to be resolute and stand firm to listen and work assiduously for the good of the people of Nasarawa State, because the opportunity given to them is not for particular people. It is not just for the established. It is not just for the rich but also for these poor ones that you see seated here and also found at various locations in Nasarawa State. Let them know that they owe these people a service and let them stand for it.
“I on my own, as a stakeholder in this land that is working assiduously to see to the development and good governance in Nasarawa State, will continue to do my own best. I will key into what the government of Nasarawa State is doing in the health sector to complement their effort. And that is why we are building a 100-bed capacity charity hospital where Nasarawa State will benefit, where Nigerians will benefit, where people from the West coast of Africa will benefit. I remain on this. I will continue to serve all of you in this regard.”
Dr. Kigbu then prayed that God will heal the minds of his supporters and grant them the grace to forgive all those that have wronged them as he has been able to do.
Also speaking at the event Hon. Obed Joseph Mebe who served as the Director-General of the Dr Kigbu campaign organization also appealed to their supporters to show restraint and accept the ruling of the Court of Appeal in good faith.
He said even though it was so painful and it seemed evil-doers were always getting away with their evil acts, it was always better to leave vengeance in the hands of God.
Addressing Dr. Kigbu, Hon. Obed Joseph Mebe said: “There is nothing we can tell you but to say thank you because on your own you have strengthened us. We thank you for your doggedness. God who has given you this strength, we pray that He will give you even more.”
Hon. Obed Joseph also used to opportunity to thank God for successful campaigns and elections as according to him, there was no accident recorded throughout the course of the campaigns.
He then urged all their supporters to use the moment to have a sober reflection and ask God to reveal to them the next step to take.
In the course of the event, there was opportunity for other political leaders especially of the PDP and also some community leaders to give goodwill messages.
