COVID19: “We have arrested more than 490 persons already” – Nasarawa Police Commissioner
The police in Nasarawa State has arrested more than 490 persons in relation to violations of proclamations and regulations put in place by the Federal and State Governments in order to curb the spread of COVID19.
This was revealed by the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Bola Longe when he spoke during a press briefing this afternoon (April 28, 2020) at the Nasarawa State Government House, Shendam Road Lafia.
He then said that henceforth, the police will not take it lightly with citizens who will be found contravening the laid down directives from the government.
According to CP Bola Longe, with Nasarawa State recording its first case of COVID19, the police and other law enforcement agencies are going to be even more stringent in enforcing the proclamations and regulations.
He said: “With the position of the Federal Government on the restriction of inter-state movement, we are focusing on all the exit points from Nasarawa State. Our men are there. We are going to prevent people, except those who are on essential travel. Anybody that wants to venture into Nasarawa State to foul our water that is clean will be arrested. And such persons will be arraigned in court appropriately.”
