COVID-19: You Are Going To See Dead Bodies On The Streets In Africa – Melinda Gates Warns
The wife of billionaire businessman and founder of Microsoft, Melinda Gates, has warned that the streets of countries in Africa will be littered with dead bodies if the world does not act fast enough about the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Melinda raised these concerns while speaking on CNN about the effects of the global pandemic in third world countries and the crisis African countries will be facing.
The co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation said though her heart is in Africa, she is worried that the continent might not be able to handle the devastating effect of the virus.
“Look at what is happening in Ecuador, they are putting bodies out on the streets, you are going to see that in countries in Africa.”
Bill Gates’ wife also talked about the poor health care systems and lack of humanitarian support, adding that she fears things will get worst for Africa once cases get to the peak.
According to Melinda, her worst nightmare concerning COVID-19 was when she saw what China had to do to isolate an enormous part of its population.
“My first thought was Africa. How in the world are they going to deal with this? I have been in townships all over Africa and slums.
“When we talk in country physical distancing and hand-washing, if you live in slums who can’t physical distance, you have to go out and get your meals. You don’t have clean water to wash your hands,” she said.
