COVID-19: Nasarawa State EXCO Members, Other Political Appointees To Donate 50% Of Salaries For Three Months
- Governor Sule Donates 10 Million Naira
Members of the Nasarawa State Executive Council (SEC) on Thursday (May 7, 2020) rose from their monthly meeting chaired by Governor Abdullahi Sule with a commitment to aggressively intensify activities in support of the fight against the coronavirus pandemic in the State.
To this end, the members of the SEC as well as other political appointees in the State unanimously agreed to donate 50 percent of their salaries for a period of three months to ensure government defeats the pandemic.
The State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Hon. Dogo Shammah, revealed this at a joint press briefing at the end of the SEC meeting in Government House, Lafia.
The deductions of the 50 percent will commence in June and will last till August.
The council, according to the Commissioner, also deliberated that, civil servants in the state might likely contribute part of their salaries as donation to the fight against the pandemic.
He appealed to spirited individuals not to be left out in supporting the State government wage a war against the further spread of the pandemic.
Earlier on, Governor Abdullahi Sule had announced a personal donation of 10 million naira to the State’s fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
The Governor made the announcement at the commencement of the monthly State Executive Council meeting while also calling on other spirited members of the public to make donations to aid the State Government in the fight.
