COVID-19: Buhari Extends Lockdown in Lagos, FCT and Ogun for 14 days
President Muhammadu Buhari has extended the lockdown order in Lagos and Ogun States as well as the FCT.
This was contained in his live broadcast this evening where he appealed to Nigerians to continue to cooperate with the government in order to curb the spread of the COVID-19.
The FCT and Lagos States have been under total lockdown (with the exemption of essential services) since March 30. Ogun State joined some days later.
President Buhari explained that although the lockdown has come with some difficulties for residents of the affected states, the measures were necessary to place the country in a position to win the fight against the coronavirus.
He urged Nigerians to follow the instructions on social distancing saying “the irresponsibility of the few can lead to the death of many. Your freedom ends where other people’s rights begin.”
