Bill To Improve Welfare Of NAYES Sponsored By Solomon Akwashiki Scales Second Reading At NSHA
A Bill that seeks to improve the welfare of members of the Nasarawa State Agency for Youth Empowerment Scheme (NAYES), sponsored by Honourable Solomon Akwashiki (SDP, Lafia Central), has scaled second reading at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA).

The bill which is christened “A Bill for a Law to Amend the Nasarawa State Agency for Youth Empowerment Scheme (NAYES) and for Other Matters Connected Thereto” also seeks to boost the revenue base of the State.
Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, the Speaker of the House announced the passage of the bill into second reading after the sponsor of the bill, Hon. Solomon Yakubu Akwashiki made a presentation on its substance during the House proceedings today (July 29, 2024) in Lafia.
The Speaker said that the bill if passed would also empower the youths with different skills in the State.
He commended the sponsor of the bill, Hon. Akwashiki and other lawmakers for their positive contributions on the bill.
“I commit this bill to the House standing committee on Youth and Sports to work on it and report back to the House on 21st August, 2024.
“The committee is to consider various contributions and inputs by members while writing their report and I am expecting a thorough job” he said.
Earlier, the Sponsor of the bill and member representing Lafia Central constituency, Hon. Solomon Yakubu Akwashiki while presenting substance of the bill said that the bill is to empower the youths and other people of the State positively.
“This bill will include adult education and creation of vocational skills for youths among other people.
“This bill will create job opportunities and generate revenue to the coffers of the State Government,” he said.
Hon. Akwashiki urged his colleagues to support the bill scale second reading.
In their contributions, Hon. Ibrahim Abdullahi Sa’ad, Hon. Suleiman Azara, Hon. Daniel Ogazi, Hon Musa Ekye, Hon. Musa Saidu Gude and Hon. Mohammed Garba Isimbabi all supported the bill to scale second reading.
They said that the bill if passed will also reduce the plights being faced by the youth in the State.
They also suggested better package and improvement in the welfare of members of NAYES for effective service delivery.
