The Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association, Chikelue Iloenyosi popularly known as The General, made headlines following the Round of 16 clash in the 2025 President Federation Cup—not just for the football, but for his heartfelt support of women’s football development.

After Nasarawa Amazons stunned the highly-favored Bayelsa Queens with a 2-1 victory at the Awka Township Stadium in Anambra State, Iloenyosi stepped forward with a special gesture. Deeply impressed by the team’s discipline, cohesion, and fighting spirit, he presented the victorious Amazons with a gift of 25 soccer balls.
“This is a token of encouragement for a team that showed real character and unity on the pitch,” Iloenyosi said. “We are proud to host them in Anambra, and we want them to know they have our support going forward.”

The donation drew praise from players and officials. Chairperson of Nasarawa Amazons, Hajiya Hussaina Nagogo, was visibly delighted, expressing sincere appreciation for both the warm hospitality and the symbolic gesture.
“This kind of support motivates us even more,” Nagogo remarked. “We truly felt at home here in Awka, and this gift from Chairman Iloenyosi means a great deal to the entire team.”
The Amazons, carrying the momentum from their unexpected victory and buoyed by new goodwill, now set their sights on the Super Six in Ikenne—hoping to make an even deeper run in the competition with fresh inspiration from their time in Anambra.
